The short answer
A roll-off dumpster in the southwest suburbs is priced per container, not per day. What you pay turns on five things: the size you take, what goes in it, how much it weighs, how far our truck drives to reach you, and where the container has to sit. Nobody can give you a real number without those, which is why the companies advertising one price on a billboard still ask you the same questions when you call. The five things that move the price, and the one that does not
- Size
- The single biggest lever. A 6 yard and a 30 yard are different trucks, different disposal weights and different time on site. Taking a container one size too big costs more than it needs to; one size too small costs a second haul, which is worse. If you are between two, say so on the call.
- What you are throwing away
- Clean wood, drywall, carpet and household debris are the straightforward case. Concrete, brick and dirt are not: they are heavy enough that they go in the 6 yard only, and that is an axle weight limit rather than a policy, so it does not change at any price. Roofing tear-off and plaster sit in between, dense for their volume.
- Weight
- Every container carries an included tonnage. The 12 yard carries 3 tons, the 16 and 20 carry 4, the 30 carries 5. The 6 yard is rated to be filled level full, which is what makes it the heavy-material container. Going over the included weight is what turns a predictable price into a surprise, and it is the thing worth being honest with us about up front.
- How far we drive
- We run out of one yard in Lemont, so a job in Lockport and a job in Oak Park are not the same trip. Most of our service area is inside roughly 20 miles and every town we serve is on a route we already run, which is the point of using a local hauler instead of a national booking site that sells your job on to whoever is nearest.
- Where it goes
- A driveway drop is the simple case and almost never needs permission from anyone. A container on the street or the parkway is your village's call and usually needs a right-of-way permit before it arrives. - How long you keep it
- This one does not move the price. The rental runs a week with a three day grace period on top, ten days maximum, and the rate is the same whether you fill the container the first afternoon or keep it the full ten days. There is no per-day meter running.
What is included
Delivery, pickup and the disposal of everything inside the container up to its included tonnage are part of the price. So is the full rental window: a week plus a three day grace period, ten days in total, at no extra charge.
The one add-on we can name up front is mattresses, at $25 each. Anything else that would change your number gets said on the phone before you book, not after the truck leaves.

Why does WasteBox not publish prices?
