What a dumpster rental costs
We quote every job on the phone, because the honest answer depends on the size, the town and what you are throwing away. Here is exactly how the price is built, so you know what you are being quoted on.

How much does a dumpster rental cost?
A roll-off dumpster in the southwest suburbs is priced per container, not per day, whether you call it a roll-off, a debris box or a trash container. What you pay turns on five things: the size you take, what goes in it, how much it weighs, how far our truck drives to reach you, and where the container has to sit. Nobody can give you a real number without those, which is why the companies advertising one price on a billboard still ask you the same questions when you call. Tell us the town, the material and the rough size of the job and we will price it on that call. If you are working to a budget, say so: sizing the container right the first time is the biggest saving there is, and it costs nothing to ask.

How long you can keep the dumpster
Every WasteBox rental is one flat rate for a full week, with a three day grace period on top.
For comparison, Angi's Chicago cost page says most Chicago dumpster rentals include seven days (checked 2026-10-12, page updated May 5, 2026).
What Chicagoland price guides say
These are ranges from three public cost guides. They are not WasteBox prices. We read each page on 2026-10-12. Each guide uses its own sizes, included weight and fees, so a real quote can land outside these ranges.
Weekly cost by size, as each guide states it. Angi's page covers Chicago. HomeGuide and Fixr give national figures. Fixr's Illinois table lists $300 to $450 per week for a 10 yard.

The five things that move the price, and the one that does not
- Size
- The single biggest lever. A 6 yard and a 30 yard are different trucks, different disposal weights and different time on site. Taking a container one size too big costs more than it needs to; one size too small costs a second haul, which is worse. If you are between two, say so on the call.
- What you are throwing away
- Clean wood, drywall, carpet and household debris are the straightforward case. Concrete, brick and dirt are not: they are heavy enough that they go in the 6 yard only, and that is an axle weight limit rather than a policy, so it does not change at any price. Roofing tear-off and plaster sit in between, dense for their volume.
- Weight
- Every container carries an included tonnage. The 12 yard carries 3 tons, the 16 and 20 carry 4, the 30 carries 5. The 6 yard is rated to be filled level full, which is what makes it the heavy-material container. Going over the included weight is what turns a predictable price into a surprise, and it is the thing worth being honest with us about up front.
- How far we drive
- We work out of one yard in Lemont, so a job in Lockport and a job in Oak Park are not the same trip. Most of our service area is inside roughly 20 miles and every town we serve is on a route we already run, which is the point of using a local hauler instead of a national booking site that sells your job on to whoever is nearest.
- Where it goes
- A driveway drop is the simple case and almost never needs permission from anyone. A container on the street or the parkway is your village's call and usually needs a right-of-way permit before it arrives. Tell us where you want it when you call and we will tell you what we normally run into in that town.
- How long you keep it
- This one does not move the price. The rental runs a week with a three day grace period on top, and the rate is the same whether you fill the container the first afternoon or keep it the whole time. There is no per-day meter running.
What is included
Delivery, pickup and the disposal of everything inside the container up to its included tonnage are part of the price. So is the full rental window: a week plus a three day grace period, at no extra charge.
The one add-on we can name up front is mattresses, at $30 each. Anything else that would change your number gets said on the phone before you book, not after the truck leaves.

That is an axle weight limit rather than a price decision, so it is not something that changes if you pay more. Tell us on the call if any of it is going in and we will quote the right container.
Do I need a permit, and does that cost anything?
On your own driveway, almost never, and there is nothing to pay. On the street or the parkway it is your village's decision and usually means a right-of-way permit, which is charged by the village rather than by us. Tell us where you want the container placed and we will tell you what we normally run into in that town.
How do I get a dumpster rental quote?

How much does a dumpster cost per day?
WasteBox rents by the week, with no day rate. It is one flat rate for a full week, with a three day grace period on top. HomeGuide says most companies do not rent a dumpster for a day. The guides still list daily figures, $50 to $120 at Angi and $25 to $80 at HomeGuide.
How much does a 2 day dumpster rental cost?
A 2 day rental costs the same as the full week, because the rate is one flat rate for a full week. Ask us for your size's price when you call.
Can I keep a dumpster over the weekend?
A Friday drop keeps the box through the weekend, since the rental runs a full week. We deliver and pick up Monday to Friday, and our office is closed Saturday and Sunday.
How much does a dumpster cost for a week?
A week is the base rental. It is one flat rate for a full week, with a three day grace period on top. Starting prices are in the table above for the 6 yard.
How much does a dumpster cost for a month?
A month is longer than a week plus the three day grace period, so ask us about the price for a longer rental when you call. For comparison, HomeGuide lists monthly rentals at $500 to $1,200 and Angi's Chicago page at $600 to $1,300.
What is the average cost of a dumpster rental?
Angi's Chicago page gives two figures. Most Chicago rentals cost $380 to $700 per week, and its stat box says the average is $350 for most projects between $315 and $413. HomeGuide's national average is $280 to $500 per week, and Fixr's national range is $200 to $550.Your price depends on the size and the weight.
Does the price include disposal?
Each size comes with included weight, shown in the table above. The flat rate covers delivery, pickup and disposal up to the included weight. Angi says most local providers include one to three tons of disposal. HomeGuide says a flat rate should include dump fees for up to 4 tons.
What happens if I go over the weight limit?
Ask us how it is billed when you call. The 6 yard has no ton limit as long as it is filled level full. For comparison, Angi puts overage at $60 to $90 per additional ton and HomeGuide at about $40 to $100 per ton.
