What size dumpster do I need for a tenant turnover?
A turnover is furniture volume rather than weight. A single apartment usually lands on the 12 or 16 yard; a whole house, or several units cleared at once, is the 20 or 30. The container goes on the lot or the drive and stays a full week with three grace days on top. Call 630-850-0770 with the move-out date and we put it in that day's run.

Have used Wastebox several times and they are very timely and professional...the office is extremely helpful talking through exactly how many yards you need based on your project! The delivery driver we recently had was amazing! He did a great job backing in while coordinating with our contractor, who was laying down plywood to help protect our paver driveway. I've used Wastebox twice so far and have nothing but good things to say about them. The person I spoke with on the phone was courteous and helpful at explaining prices. I called around 7AM and my dumpster was delivered before noon. Their driver Jason was helpful and was able to position the dumpster in a way to preserve vehicle access to the garage while the dumpster was in the driveway. Finally, Wastebox is good with communications. They text about 30 minutes prior to arriving for drop off and pick up. Overall, a great company that I'd use again and recommend to others.
I've been using Wastebox for a few years. I love these folks. When I call for an order, the ladies pick up and arrange for delivery very timely and are so polite and easy to work with. The drivers have all been great. Ken has especially been helpful since he was the guy that connected me to WasteBox in the beginning. Ken is always patient and always has a smile and is the so friendly. Ill continue to use this service and I tell all my customers and other vendors to do the same.
I ordered a 16 yd box. The driver was very careful in placing the box in a difficult location and avoided damaging anything. They were also prompt in pickup and left no trace in the area. I did go over my load by one ton. Beth notified me and was able to settle tge account promptly.
Don’t hesitate to use them. Great pricing and reliable. David went above and beyond and dropped off our box in the middle of a tornado when we were hunkering down in the basement. He was soaking wet, but still delivered it as promised. Very pleased 😀!
Fantastic service. Very communicative. Came in the time frame that was given. Our driver, Ken, was great! We did a live load and Ken helped us fill the dumpster which was not expected and very much appreciated!! Definition of going above and beyond! My driver Art, was great! I asked him if it would be possible to drop my dumpster in a narrow spot with not much clearance. He told me "I can do it with my eyes closed, but for safety reasons I'll keep them open". He actually then suggested a better spot, and that worked out great! Great driver, Great guy, knows what he's doing. Very friendly.
The office ladies were knowledgeable & helpful. The driver, Arturo, was friendly and efficient. He was able to maneuver the dumpster into my driveway, avoiding my neighbor's lawn & my plantings. What size dumpster do I need for an apartment turnover?
Can the container sit in the parking lot?
Yes, on a private lot or driveway. Street or parkway placement is the village's call in the suburbs; inside Chicago the permit is ours to hold either way.
Can I book repeat deliveries for multiple properties?
Yes. Call the same number each time and you reach the same people who dispatch the trucks. There is no account, no contract and no minimum.
Can furniture and mattresses left by a tenant go in?
Yes. Furniture, appliances and electronics are accepted. Mattresses are $25 each. Hazardous, flammable or liquid material, tires and food waste are not.
Do you handle eviction cleanouts?
Yes. Book against the date you get the keys back. A full unit of contents is usually the 16 or 20 yard.
How much does a turnover dumpster cost?
We quote every job on the phone, because the price depends on the size, the town and what you are throwing away. How the price is built: one flat rate covers a full week, with a three day grace period on top at no extra charge, and the rate is the same whether you fill the container the first afternoon or keep it the whole time. Weight is included up to the container's limit, 3 tons in the 12 yard, 4 tons in the 16 and 20, 5 tons in the 30. The 6 yard is rated to be filled level full, which is what makes it the container for concrete, brick and dirt. Mattresses are $25 each. Tell us the town, what is going in it, roughly how big the job is and the date you need it, and we will price it on that call.
