A tear-off looks like a small pile and weighs like a big one. Asphalt shingles come off fast and dense, so the number that matters is the tonnage the container carries, not how tall the box is. The 12 yard carries 3 tons, the 16 and 20 yard carry 4, the 30 yard carries 5. Tell us the square footage and how many layers are coming off and we will size it against those limits, so you are not paying for a second haul because the first box went over.
The 12 and 16 yard sit on a driveway beside the dump trailer and leave room for the crew's trucks. If the job is a whole-house replacement with two layers, or the roof and the gutters and the fascia are all coming off, take the 20 or the 30. The rate is one flat number for the container and it covers a full week with a three day grace period, so a two day tear-off never runs up a clock.
What goes in, and the one thing that does not
Asphalt shingles, underlayment, drip edge and flashing, the old decking and the wood that comes off with it, and the packaging from the new roof all go in the same container. Nails ride along with the shingles. Concrete, brick and dirt do not: those are an axle weight limit, they go in our 6 yard and only in the 6 yard, so a roof job that also breaks up a stoop or a patio takes two containers, a big one for the roof and a 6 yard for the masonry.

Fill it early and call. We bring a fresh container at the rate for that size and set it in the same spot or right beside the first, so the crew never stops tearing off.
Placement that protects the driveway
Our drivers set the container where you want it. Leave boards out and they go under the rollers; the trucks do not carry wood, so have them there before we arrive.

Roofing dumpster questions
What size dumpster do I need for a roof tear-off?
Roofing tear-off is dense for its volume, so the weight limit is what binds rather than the space. Tell us the rough square footage and how many layers are coming off and we will size it against the tonnage: 3 tons in the 12 yard, 4 in the 16 and 20, 5 in the 30.
Can shingles go in a WasteBox dumpster?
Yes. Asphalt shingles, underlayment, flashing and the wood that comes off with them all go in any size from the 12 yard up. Concrete, brick and dirt do not; those go in the 6 yard only.
How long can the container stay on the job?
One week, plus a three day grace period, so ten days at the same rate. Most tear-offs are done in a day or two; the extra days are there so the container is never the thing rushing you.
What if the crew fills it before the roof is done?
Call for a switch-out. We bring a fresh container, the same size or a different one, at the rate for that container, and set it in the same spot or right beside the first.
Will the container damage the driveway?
Our drivers set containers down carefully and will place one on boards if you leave them out where you want them used. The trucks do not carry wood, so put boards down before we arrive.
