What size dumpster do I need for concrete or demolition?
Concrete, brick, dirt and asphalt go in the 6 yard container and nothing larger. It measures 12' x 5' x 3', fits a single driveway lane and is rated to be filled level full with heavy material. Demolition debris that is not masonry, so framing, decking, drywall and cabinets, goes in the 12 to 20 yard. A job with both takes two containers and they arrive on the same trip. Why heavy material only fits the 6 yard
A 12 yard filled with broken concrete is over what the truck can legally carry off your driveway, so this is an axle weight rating rather than a policy and it does not change at any price. Level full is the fill line that rating depends on. Every larger container in our fleet is built for construction debris and household clear-outs, which is a completely different density from a slab.
What counts as heavy material
Concrete, brick, block, stone, asphalt, dirt, clay and sod. If you are unsure which group your material falls in, say what it is when you call. It decides which container leaves the yard, and it is a quicker conversation before delivery than after.
Demolition, deck removal and flooring tear-outs
Demolition debris that is not masonry goes in the 12 to 20 yard, sized to the tonnage: 3 tons in the 12 yard, 4 tons in the 16 and 20. A typical deck tear-off is the 12 yard. Tile and ceramic flooring is the exception because it carries weight like brick, so tell us what the floor is. If the demo takes out a stoop or a slab as well, that masonry rides in a 6 yard alongside.
Concrete on one side, everything else on the other
A patio tear-out that is half slab and half timber is two loads in one pile. Give us the rough split when you call and we will tell you whether that is one container or two. It is a common job and it has a normal answer.

Concrete and demolition dumpster questions
Can I put concrete in a dumpster?
Yes, in the 6 yard container. Concrete, brick and dirt are not permitted in the 12, 16, 20 or 30 yard, because those are not rated to carry that weight.
Why can I not put concrete in a bigger dumpster?
It is an axle weight limit rather than a rule we set. A larger container filled with concrete exceeds what the truck can legally lift and carry, so it does not change at any price.
Do you take asphalt and brick?
Yes, in the 6 yard, on the same basis as concrete. Tell us on the call what the material is so the right container is loaded.
Can I put dirt in a dumpster?
Yes, in the 6 yard. Dirt, clay and sod are heavy for their volume, so they belong in the same container as concrete rather than in a larger box.
What size dumpster do I need for a deck removal?
Usually the 12 yard. Decking and framing are bulky but light, so the 12 yard's 3 ton limit covers a typical deck. If the footings are coming out too, the concrete goes in a 6 yard on its own.
Do you take demolition debris?
Yes. Framing, drywall, cabinets, decking and flooring go in the 12 to 20 yard. Concrete, brick, block and dirt go in the 6 yard only. A demo with both takes two containers.
How much does a concrete dumpster cost?
We quote every job on the phone, because the price depends on the size, the town and what you are throwing away. How the price is built: one flat rate covers a full week, with a three day grace period on top at no extra charge, and the rate is the same whether you fill the container the first afternoon or keep it the whole time. Weight is included up to the container's limit, 3 tons in the 12 yard, 4 tons in the 16 and 20, 5 tons in the 30. The 6 yard is rated to be filled level full, which is what makes it the container for concrete, brick and dirt. Mattresses are $25 each. Tell us the town, what is going in it, roughly how big the job is and the date you need it, and we will price it on that call.
