What size dumpster do I need for a kitchen remodel?

Most kitchen gut jobs fit a 16 or 20 yard dumpster. WM's own pages list its 20 yard for kitchen or bathroom remodels. Tell us what is coming out and we choose with you.

What matters is how much comes out: cabinets, counters, appliances, flooring, drywall.

Where each one fits

WM's 20 yard page lists it for kitchen or bathroom remodels (WM, checked October 12, 2026). Drywall adds up too. Budget Dumpster says a 4 by 8 sheet of half inch drywall weighs nearly 50 pounds. Twenty sheets is about 1,000 pounds by our arithmetic.

12 yard: cabinets and counters only, floors stay.
16 yard: cabinets, counters, flooring and some drywall.
20 yard: a full gut with walls, floor and a lot of drywall.

Heavy pieces

Concrete counters or a concrete floor go in the 6 yard only. Ask about stone and tile with mortar when you call. WasteBox accepts appliances, refrigerators included. Some haulers do not take them, and WM's 20 yard page lists "No Appliances or Electronics" for its box. Mention what you are pulling out when you call.
