Can You Put Dirt in a Dumpster?

Yes, but only in the 6 yard dumpster. WasteBox puts dirt, concrete and brick in the 6 yard only because they are heavy.

Why dirt goes in the 6 yard only

HomeGuide says a box filled with heavy debris such as dirt can go over its weight limit, the truck cannot remove it, and extra fees follow. The 6 yard is built for that load. It is 12 feet by 5 feet by 3 feet, and you fill it level full.

Illinois EPA lists soil as general construction and demolition debris, which means non-hazardous, uncontaminated material. See our 6 yard dumpster.

If the dirt may be contaminated

Illinois EPA's definition covers uncontaminated material only. Call us before you load soil that may be contaminated.
